Children Touring Hometown Holding Hands

"I have great respect for the past. If you don't know where you've come from, you don't know where you're going.” - Maya Angelou

On Nov. 3, Voices For Children, together with Genesis Hopeful Haven, collaborated to give over 40 Miami-Dade County foster youth the gift of learning more about the city they live in and their place in the world. Through the wonderful support we receive from the community, the kids first had the opportunity to visit History Miami where they learned about the different individuals and historic moments that have contributed to what Miami is today. After a fun group lunch, they got to do a bus tour with a guide, which took them all over to learn about some of Miami’s most iconic places including Bayside, Miami Beach. Wynwood, and Little Havana.

Children deserve normalcy regardless of their circumstances. Through the wonderful support we receive from the community, we can move our mission forward to provide experiences that allow children in foster care to have moments, memories and opportunities to pursue a brighter future with their heads held high.

Thank you to everyone who makes these experiential learning opportunities possible for our youth, allowing them to grow into well-rounded individuals who will form integral parts of our community.
