Jasmine, Ella and Robert

In 2021, siblings Jasmine, Ella, and Robert were removed from their mother as she struggled with substance abuse dependence and untreated mental health issues. The children were placed with relatives: Jasmine and Ella went to live with an aunt, while Robert stayed with his grandmother. After a series of unsuccessful attempts at completing the services required to regain custody of her children, the mom surrendered her parental rights. This meant that the children were eligible for adoption. Right as adoption paperwork was underway, a terrible fire engulfed Jasmine and Ella's home. They lost nearly everything they owned.

Facing the immediate crisis, Voices For Children leaped into action. Jasmine, Ella, and their aunt, with just the bare essentials in tow, found a temporary home with a family member, but we didn't let them face this transition alone. Voices For Children ensured they had everything they needed to feel comfortable: necessities for this short-term stay, and gift cards to Target and Old Navy meant new clothes, a small piece of normalcy in a chaotic time. With a new apartment secured, Voices For Children provided the deposit. The family now has a safe haven to call their own, thanks to the support of Voices For Children donors.

Countless children in Miami-Dade County foster care face similar challenges. Imagine a world where they all have a safety net to catch them during life's roughest times. Through generous donations to Voices For Children, our community can make that world a reality.
