Voices for Children CEO, Kadie Black

Black's role with Voices for Children Foundation furthers her life's work to end the cycle of abuse in the foster care system. She has successfully led the organization, including staff and lay leaders, to increase and diversify funding that provides essential support to Miami-Dade County's children in foster care. Since she joined, the organization has created new revenue streams and secured contributions that have increased the budget by over $700,000, allowing it to double its staff, develop a new strategic plan and expand its mission of reaching hundreds of new children in foster care.

Birthplace: Miami-Dade County I Education: B.S., criminal justice, M.S., communications and media, Lynn University

PEARL OF WISDOM: We are better and stronger together. We should practice only looking in our neighbor's bowl to make sure that they have enough and not in comparison, as comparison is the thief of joy.

l owe my success to: My parents' compassion, leadership and commitment to helping the most vulnerable in our community.

I'm successful because: I have learned how to use personal challenges, such as my dyslexia, as my superpower to help me achieve more.

My TEDTalk topic would be: Solving for the lack of connectivity and integration of social services. The destination that best matches my personality: Amsterdam. It is filled with culture and free-spirited people.

The most important part of my daily routine is: Being intentional about generating joy for myself so I can lead from that energy.

Favorite icebreaker topic: Asking people what brings them joy.

My guilty pleasure: Blowing bubbles and roller skating.
