Vince Castro | Voices For Children
Voices For Children Foundation
This month marks the end of a very important chapter at Voices For Children Foundation as Vince Castro, our longtime supporter and Board Chair, completes his term with the organization. As Vince finishes up his time with Voices, we would like to honor and thank him for his dedication as Chairman of Voices For Children’s Board of Directors for the past 3 years.
Vince was only five years old when he moved to Miami from Cuba with his parents and like many children in our community, learned early on about the struggles that children can experience when facing drastic change and instability.
As a father of four children, Vince was inspired to contribute to allocating resources for children in Miami-Dade County who were struggling in their own homes and kicking off his relationship with Voices. During his 13 years of Board service with Voices, Vince learned the importance of the organization’s role in representing foster children in Miami-Dade and recognized the need for awareness, advocacy and support of our community’s most vulnerable citizens.
Over the years, Voices has had many achievements under Vince’s leadership, chief among them, this year’s Gala at the Mandarin Oriental, Miami where the organization raised $740,000, its most successful raise to date. His contributions to the event marked a pivotal moment for nonprofits, encouraging them to return to in-person events.
Vince earned his business administration degree from Miami-Dade College and today holds a position as CEO and President of Akumen Insurance Advisors where he works protecting the assets of business owners and high net worth families.
When he is not volunteering his time to the foster children of Miami-Dade County, Vince spends his free-time with his family, playing golf, traveling and seeing the world. Vince believes the greatest gift he ever received was when his parents fled Cuba and worked hard to reach freedom coming to America. A life lesson Vince leaves us with is that “Hard work pays off. It doesn’t happen overnight and it takes years to make happen.”
We are incredibly grateful for his service and commitment to Voices and look forward to working with him as he continues to serve as the Immediate Past Chair and continues his work with the organization.
