VOICES FOR CHILDREN ANNOUNCEMENT | Voices For Children

Join us as we welcome Kadie Black
as the new President & CEO!

Please join the Board of Directors in welcoming Kadie Black as the new President and CEO of Voices For Children Foundation.

A veteran child welfare advocate and visionary community builder with a generational legacy within the Guardian ad Litem Program (GAL), Kadie comes to us with over 20 years’ experience in the child welfare space. Her dedication and passion in this space made her the perfect choice to advance our mission of ensuring every abused, abandoned and neglected child in Miami-Dade County has financial assistance and other resources for their health, educational, and social needs through their court appointed Guardian ad Litem.

“Kadie’s long and successful trajectory and commitment to the betterment of child welfare in Florida is unparalleled and we know that together with our donors, partners, and volunteers she will continue to elevate the critical work that we do to improve the lives of every foster child in our community,” said Chairman Vince Castro.

Prior to joining Voices For Children, Kadie served as the development director for Kristi House Children’s Advocacy Center, a non-profit dedicated to providing treatment, advocacy, and coordination of service, within a healing environment, for abused, abandoned and neglected children. During her tenure, she oversaw events and fundraising, exponentially increasing the organization’s visibility and community engagement which led to record-breaking fundraising efforts for the organization.

“I am so honored and humbled by the opportunity to get to lead this great organization. From an early age, I watched in admiration as my mother gave a voice to children in foster care through her work as Director of the Guardian ad Litem Program for more than 26 years. It was then that I knew it was my calling to give a voice to those who were far less fortunate than myself and have continued to follow that purpose ever since. I feel incredibly lucky and grateful to be part of this next chapter for the organization,” said Black.

A Guardian ad Litem volunteer since the young age of 19, Kadie is the daughter of Joni Goodman, a longtime child welfare advocate who served as the director of the Guardian ad Litem program for over 25 years. Joni Goodman, along with now Mayor Daniella Levine Cava, conceived Voices For Children in 1984 as a way to ensure children in foster care had the resources needed for basic needs like clothing and food. Voices For Children Foundation was seeded with $4,000 and since then has blossomed into a $4.5 million safety net for the community’s most vulnerable children.

Kadie began working in child welfare in 2005 as a development and community outreach manager at Foster Care Review. She later served in numerous other child welfare advocacy organizations, including Our Kids of Miami-Dade and Monroe where she served as external affairs director for seven years.

Kadie is excited to work with all of our donors, staff, and the community at large. We encourage you to reach out to congratulate her and discuss ways you may be of assistance as she transitions into her new role and beyond. Kadie can be reached at Kblack@BeAVoice.org.

Sincerely,

Voices For Children Foundation
