9th Annual Back to School Uniform Event

By August 21, 2019 No Comments

On August 7, 2019, Voices For Children hosted its 9th Annual Back to School Uniform Event.  On that night, children who are navigating Miami-Dade’s foster care system were given $100 to able to shop for brand new school uniforms at Old Navy Shoppes at Dadeland.  They also received brand new backpacks filled with school supplies thanks to Nest of Love and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines.  As if that weren’t enough, each child also received a brand-new pair of sneakers courtesy of Adidas.

While the children shopped, the one and only Burnie the Mascot from the Miami HEAT entertained and posed for pictures with the children.  Not only were the children enjoying themselves, but also several of their Guardians ad Litem who were in charge of registering the children along with caregivers and relatives to this very special event.

Now these children will be ready to begin the school year with pride and confidence, sporting their new outfits just like their peers on the first day of school.  Special thanks to Mickey and Madeleine Arison Family Foundation as well as the many donors who contributed to help make this event a success.
