It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over. Soon, kids will be back in school, settling into new routines and working on homework assignments.  But, you still have time to enjoy the last few days of vacation with the children in your life. This week, make plans to check out these three, family-friendly activities happening throughout the city.
Back to School Jam
Overtown’s historic Lyric Theatre is throwing one big bash for local children, featuring appearances by local DJs, backpack giveaways and health screenings for all school-aged kids. Don’t miss performances from Slip N Slide recording artists Lil Twon and headliner Zoey Dollaz!

Fee-Free “P.L.A.Y.” Day at Deering Estate
The Deering Estate opens up its doors for a fun-filled day of indoor/outdoor activities. Programming ranges from canoe rides to historical tours and fruit displays. For a full list of events, visit their website.

Movie Under the Stars
Before they’re back to early bedtimes and alarm clocks, give kids the opportunity to stay up late one last time at Movies Under the Stars. This week’s free flick is Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Headphone rentals are $5 and, as usual, picnics are welcomed.
