Local Foster Kids And Their Foster Families To Receive Shopping Sprees Thanks To Voices For Children Foundation, Key Donors

Galleria Farms and the Micky and Madeleine Arison Family Foundation donate $16,500 to fund Walmart shopping sprees for 145 Miami-Dade foster children

MIAMI – May 10, 2015 – Voices For Children Foundation, a Miami not-for-profit organization advocating for children in foster care, will give 125 kids in the Miami-Dade County foster care system, and their foster families, $100 in spending money to shop for clothes, toys and school supplies at a local Walmart. Additionally, 20 teens aging out of foster care will receive $200 for basic essentials as they prepare to start independent lives. The shopping sprees are made possible by generous donations from Galleria Farms and the Micky and Madeleine Arison Family Foundation, and will take place from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, May 23 at Walmart, 3200 NW 79 Street, Miami, FL, 33147.
 The children who will benefit from the shopping sprees range in age from infancy to 18 years old.
“We’re grateful to our donors for providing these kids and foster families what many families take for granted – an opportunity to shop for things they need and may want. In addition, these benefactors are providing our youths who are aging out of the system with a critical opportunity to purchase basic goods as they set out on their own,” said Nelson F. Hincapie, president and CEO of Voices For Children Foundation. “We’re thankful to our community partners for their continued generosity and commitment to helping these deserving children and youths.”
In addition to a $10,000 donation from Galleria Farms, a major distributor, importer and grower of fresh flowers, the Micky and Madeleine Arison Family Foundation donated $6,500 to fund the shopping sprees.
About Voices For Children Foundation: Voices For Children Foundation is a not-for-profit organization that raises money to help ensure that abused, abandoned, and neglected children in Miami-Dade County each have a court-appointed Guardian ad Litem and that financial assistance and other resources are available for their health, educational, and social needs.
